Remodeled and Remodeling

Elegant, soft, bright, and pleasing -- we've changed the lighting in the dining area of the bar and lounge.

The Georgia Boy Cafe at Park Circle has been remodeling through the wee hours.

From floor to ceiling and wall to wall, we’re making our atmosphere as warming and welcoming as our southern food, drink, and hospitality.

Restaurateur Montez Dorsey helps lay in the new marble tiled floor behind the bar.

A slice of marble tiling waits for setting behind the bar.

Okay. It's a patch of the flooring that now surrounds the bar, but we find it beautiful, professionals, so we believe, being prone to worry about all the small things that add up to a great performance.

We’re not doing close quarters, big city, elbow-to-elbow combat with forks and knives. We’re doing a cool place on a hot day for cold beer and gumbo with space aplenty for the blues and dancing on a hot night.

Stacy Brooks Band St.Patty’s Day Jam in Hagerstown on 03/17/12

Time and place: 9 p.m., St. Patty’s, The Georgia Boy Cafe at Park Circle — that means right here!  Here’s a sample of the buzz from the Stacy Brooks Band web site:

Stacy Brooks singing brings pure elegance to live Blues & Jazz as her band always electrifies the crowd. Stacy’s outstanding voice and warm stage presence guarantees a great performance-whether she is singing one of her original blues tunes or riffing along on an old jazz favorite. Her show is
not to be missed.

Stacy Brooks, has one of the most amazing voices in R&B world I’ve ever heard. She has a mixture of Phyllis Hyman and Jill Scott all rap in one. Stacy has a way of keeping her audience at bay with her funky Blues sounds that captivate you from a far.
I had the pleasure of hearing Stacy Brooks and the band not too long ago, and was truly impressed. Stacy is going to take the Blues music to a whole new level and make her fans feel good about the blues music like B.B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, and Etta James used to do.

Aye and rightly the Irish say, “May ye be in heaven an hour before the Devil finds ye dead!”

Just forget about the dead part: be here for Stacy Brooks Band and be in blues heaven all night — and when it’s done, may the Devil find you too lively and spirited for bother.

Poor Devil.

Lucky you!

Hate to See That Evening Sun Go Down?

Magic Hour, Georgia Boy Cafe, Hagerstown, Maryland, March 6, 2012.

Come around sunset this spring: the kitchen will have something hot for you, the bar something icy cold, and the bar and lounge, mostly likely, something noisy, gritty, sweet, sweaty, harmonious, dissenting, and altogether entertaining in a very good way.

This Wednesday, March 7, 2012, from 6 p.m., total class act Kerensa Gray returns to The Georgia Boy Cafe at Park Circle to sing and swing with jazz.
Tomorrow evening (March 8): Karaoke with Ta-Da Entertainment, absolutely TA Da for, we think, and affording much fun for all.
Friday night (March 9): Denny Spickler – way cool voice, guitar, and fine material!

Saturday night (March 10): Spit Ur Peace — Spoken Word Open Mic.
Dig!
Sunday Evening: (March 11) Typically a Skyla Burrell Blues Jam  however the band on tour so again total class act Kerensa Gray returns to The Georgia Boy Cafe at Park Circle to sing and swing with jazz and  a touch of Blues as she feels in
Monday: well, it’s Monday.  Relax.  Eat well.  Imbibe and revive.
Tuesday: really relax because I’m going to be back  (J. S. Oppenheim with Oppenheim Acoustic Music) from 7 – 10 p.m. with stuff everybody knows (from somewhere, long ago, far away) and stuff nobody knows (because I wrote ‘em and I only sing ‘em down at The Georgia Boy Cafe at Park Circle).
Let that big old sun go down — around suppertime, come to think of it — this March: do credit the owners, staff, and local, regional, and national artists for making the Georgia Boy just the place to settle in for thoughtful, live, professional entertainment in the Tri-State area five out of seven nights a week.
